Several studies have shown that extra virgin olive oil decreases the possibility of heart attack and blood pressure by about 30%. But not only that! Moderate consumption of EVO oil is useful in the prevention of multiple pathologies such as: hypertension, thrombotic risk, atherosclerosis and dyslipidemia. Specifically, dyslipidemia is any clinical condition in which there are high concentrations of lipids in the blood. Extra virgin olive oil, if consumed raw, has a protective effect against dyslipidemia, reducing bad LDL cholesterol, and consequently atherosclerosis. A research conducted in France on elderly patients has also shown that the regular intake of extra virgin olive oil is able to reduce the risk of stroke by 41%. Certainly for both adults and children, proper nutrition, low in saturated fats of animal origin is a valid aid in keeping cardiovascular diseases under control and preventing them!
